Centro de Artes e Espectáculos
The Orquestra Clássica do Centro (OCC) presents its Christmas Concert at the CAE, conducted by Maestro Diogo Costa. This concert features the participation of soprano Liliana Sebastião; the Essence Voices Choir, directed by conductor Carla Pais; and the Figueira da Foz Little Voices Choir, directed by conductor Alexandra Curado. The programme will include “The Hebrides”, by Félix Mendelssohn; “Magnificat in Gilded Wood”, by Eurico Carrapatoso; and Christmas Carols.
In addition to the concerts that constitute its main activity, the Orquestra Clássica do Centro has organised competitions, conferences, festivals, meetings and many other events, often in collaboration with other organisations. It has published several CDs and books, and its main concern has always been to promote musical culture, increase the pedagogical aspect and provide an appetite for listening to and appreciating classical music. Its principal conductor is Sergio Alapont. In 2023 it celebrates its 22nd anniversary.
